Grand Master Pranorm Aumpin (ประนอม อัมพินย์), widely known as “Kru Daeng,” is one of Thailand’s most respected Muay Thai masters and was honoured as a National Muay Thai Master for his lifelong contribution to the art. Born in Bangkok in 1935, Kru Daeng began training Muay Thai at the age of 13 at Sing Songkhram Camp, near Wat Chana Songkhram. He went on to compete for approximately 14 years, with more than 70 Muay Thai fights at major venues including Rajadamnern and Lumpinee Stadiums. He became a Rajadamnern Stadium flyweight runner-up and also competed in Western boxing. After retiring from competition in 1963, Kru Daeng dedicated his life to teaching and developing the next generation. He served as a trainer, referee, judge and promoter, and later established Worawut and Lorlek Camps. Among the legendary fighters developed under his guidance were Put Lorlek, Pudpadnoi Worawut and Venice Borkhorsor, alongside many other champions. Throughout his teaching career, Kru Daeng is credited with instructing more than 10,000 students and producing fighters who collectively achieved nearly 20 championship titles across Muay Thai and Western boxing. He also began teaching at Thammasat University in 1963, a role he continued for decades, passing Muay Thai knowledge and values to generations of students. Known as “Kru Daeng Worawut,” his dedication to preserving and passing on authentic Muay Thai earned him recognition as “บรมครูมวย 4 แผ่นดิน” — the Great Muay Thai Master of Four Reigns. His lifelong commitment to Muay Thai, both as a fighter and a teacher, represents the values at the heart of the Kru Muaythai Association: preserving the knowledge, traditions and lineage of Muay Thai for future generations.
