GRAND MASTER WOODY
Chinawut Sirisompan, Master Woody, he was born
in Bangkok, Thailand on the 13 June 1954. He excelled at most
of his studies, physical education interested him most the
Martial Arts. He first started training in Muay Thai at about
7 years of age, then he had a good opportunity for Master
Woody to learn with several different Teachers and concentrated
on his academic studies both the engineering and Muay Thai
subject.
In 1994 Master Woody was requested by the Executive
Committee of the IAMTF, a Federation founded with the agreement
of the Department of Physical Education of Thailand, to take
up the position of International Commissioner, to promote
the art of Muay Thai throughout the World. This was in honour
of all the work he has done for Muay Thai over the years,
and because it was felt that his knowledge and experience
of dealing with peoples of different cultures and races made
him the most suitable for the position. Because of the importance
of this position he decided to resume his involvement in Muay
Thai, after his two year break. He has many responsibilities
and duties to perform in this position such as promoting and
monitoring the Traditional Art throughout the World and cooperating
with all people involved in it. This is achieved with the
help and cooperation of the Department of Physical Education,
the Office of the National Culture Commission of Thailand,
the Sports Authority of Thailand, the staff of the International
Office in Manchester and all National Representatives throughout
the world. He travels to many Countries holding teaching seminars
for Instructors, Referees and Judges. In 1996 he was given
a further honour by the Minister of Education of Thailand
(Chawarin Ratanasaksiri) had awarded the Gold Mongkon and
the title of Grand Master.
